Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Home Advisor?

Home Advisor is a consumer demand aggregator and presents it to our target market for a fee. Home ReProject does not aggregate consumer demand.

Home Advisor charges you for project leads. Home ReProject is not in the business of generating project leads and does not charge a fee for any project you do not want to pursue. We do charge a flat fee for supporting the detailed project planning.

Home Advisor does not help you develop a project team or a project plan. That is what Home ReProject does well.

Home Advisor does not get involved in project execution. Home ReProject provides light project management through-out the execution phase.

Home Advisor does not provide a periodic analysis of its service value. Home ReProject does.

How is this differ than your own Project Manager?

Chances are that your Project Manager does not perform full resource and project portfolio management. Home ReProject does.

Your Project Manager likely builds a good plan for a team dedicated to one project at a time. Home ReProject uses professional-grade resource pool development with expert planning tools and support for a team that may be working on more than one project at a time. Home ReProject can predict a project’s likely schedule during the planning stage.

How do we use your tools?

You may have seen one of our demonstrations which provide some screen shots of our tools. They are pretty sophisticated, but our clients do not use them - we do. We provide the basic input forms and output reports that require no new software and very little training in order to understand the process and information presented.

Every Home ReProject tool and service must meet the following conditions …
a) Is this simple enough for a non-tech savvy client to use?
b) This cannot require the client to buy or learn a new technology except via simple cloud-based data input forms.
c) This must save time and not make the client’s day any longer than it already is.

How do we grow our network and form project teams?

We (you the Network Owner and Home ReProject) share the incentive to grow your network to a large-enough, but manageable size so that you can take on more projects and not be overly-reliant on too few subcontractor partners.

EVERYTHING depends on mutual TRUST.
a) Network Owners invite Members using a rating system.
b) Network Members may be invited by multiple Network Owners and can belong to multiple networks within the same region. Good member organization should enjoy that benefit.

We assist your network development effort by starting with your current (if informal) network of business partners. We have a short on-demand recruiting video for potential Network Members. From there, we’ll address any question they may have about joining your network.

Upon recruiting as many of your existing business partners, we will present potential new member candidates to you each new quarter. You then evaluate them and invite those who meet your standards. We have a structured rating system to help with this vetting process.

Finally, you evaluate each member of the project team at the end of each project. Some Members may actually drop out of your network for bad performance while others may rise up the rankings for improved performance.

Forming the project team starts with a detailed plan that applies Resource Roles and not specific organization or individual names to it. We then look at your Network Members providing these Resource Roles to assess their capacity to perform the work when it’s required. The Network Owner then applies the available resources to the plan in a preferred order.

Our project planning model then predicts the project schedule with the team the Owner has chosen. If the schedule is unacceptable to the customer, then we select another Network member who may be more available. Such a substitution may come from outside the Owner’s existing member network.

The whole team then locks-in on a baseline project plan and re-confirms their availability 4 and 2 weeks ahead of the project launch.

What kind of information do we give and get and how difficult is this?

First - Network Owner Inputs & Outputs …

Network Development Inputs: Complete a simple Online Form listing the organizations you want to invite into your network.

Portfolio Development & Alignment: Collaborate with a Home ReProject Manager to provide information about your current and potential projects. We then provide a report full of graphs to help you select the best projects, prioritize the list and a rough schedule.

Preliminary Project Planning: The potential new customer completes a simple online questionnaire about their project. Home ReProject provides the Network Owner or their selected General Contractor with some simple planning tools to gain general project insights and vision.

Detailed Project Planning: If the project is one to pursue, Home ReProject uses project templates to collaborate with the Owner in developing a detailed project plan. We perform the resource and schedule analysis behind the scene and then help the Owner produce a professional project plan and quote that will most likely be way more impressive than competing bids. Home ReProject pledges independence and non-disclosure between any two competing network Owner clients.

Project Portfolio Dashboard & Project Console: Home ReProject provides a Project Portfolio Dashboard and Project Consoles. An Owner might spend 15 minutes reviewing this at the beginning of each week and refer to it each day for quick guidance. Home ReProject performs the updating within the tools.

Now, Network Member Inputs & Outputs:

Monthly Resource Capacity Updates (input): A simple pen-marked hard copy and cell phone photo-captured member reply works fine. Or, a quick 10-minute phone call for the update works too.

All project team member organization leads get both a text and email reminding them of upcoming project work within 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day respectively. No surprises.

An end-of-week work status update request via text and email goes out to all Network members currently responsible for project work. The reply takes just a few minutes.

Members get a quarterly Analysis & Report of their Home ReProject-related work-to-date.

Home ReProject also provides limited Invoicing support to all Owners and Members. A smart phone and email is required.

I want a certain team on a project. How does that work?

That’s not a problem, but not everybody on your team may be available when needed to hold the desired schedule. Home ReProject calculates the predicted schedule and perhaps that is what you propose to the customer. We encourage those project team members to provide us with good resource capacity data so that our planning support is effective.

The first several quarters of this system will not run perfectly smooth. It will get better over time with more portfolio and scheduling control practice and collaboration.

What if I have to use a non-Home ReProject contractor?

That’s fine. Sometimes you’ll have to use a subcontractor that is not a Home ReProject member. We’ll provide the same service and hope that they find it valuable enough to join us soon.

The downside is in relying on them repeatedly if we cannot see their availability for upcoming projects.

What is this service going to cost me per year?

We have an application for this question for both Network Owners and Members. It estimates the annual financial benefit across four (4) scenarios: our total failure, modest success, moderate success, and aggressive growth. Depending on several variables and assumptions, we think that we can generate the following results for you …

a) Total failure to provide any value would cost Owners ~$8000 per year and members ~$3000. Shame on us if that happens.
b) Modest success would generate an additional $15,000 to $25,000 for Owners and ~$10,000 for members.

Again, these are based on averages and a walk-through this model together should give you a good understanding of Home ReProject’s value to your organization. Just call us to set up this walk through of our model.
